Rochelle R. Daniel is the founder and director of the SPR Group. She also serves as the instructor for the Capstone: Strategic Public Relations course, which prepares students for the PR profession. Daniel joined the Department of Communications faculty in spring 2010 as Instructor and Coordinator for the Public Relations Concentration. With more than 20 years professional experience, she most recently served as Associate Director for Public Relations in the University Relations and Marketing Department at Bowie State University. Previously, she was Coordinator of Public Relations at Prince George's Community College, where she also taught continuing education courses in public speaking; Communications Specialist, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies; Deputy Press Secretary, U.S. House of Representatives Government Operations Committee; Legislative Correspondent, U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes Office, and Senior News Assistant, Voice of America.
She has a master's degree in management with a concentration in marketing from the University of Maryland University College, a certificate in advanced public relations from George Washington University, and a bachelor's degree in print journalism from Howard University. In 2007, she facilitated sessions at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) national conference on a successful journalism/communications workshop she designed for Prince George's Community College to reach high school students interested in communications. Awards and memberships include a NCMPR award for journalism/communications workshop (2006); Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) silver award for "presidential visibility media program"(2003); host judge for the CASE award competition (2001); and National Council for Marketing and Public Relations' gold award for 40th anniversary "media success story" (1999). She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
